It has never been used or formatted for anything before using this script, and was connected via USB to SATA on the only USB port on my laptop. The Target drive being formatted is a brand new Crucial MX500 SSD. You can also see that it assigned the drive letters "D" through "H" to the partitions instead of "U" through "Y." Not sure if this is normal? "* Formatting new partitions with C:\WINDOWS\system32\format. After about another 10 mins, I figured something was wrong, so I then opted to abort the script when the option arose again. I initially thought it needed to run longer so I chose not to abort. In the below example of one of my attempts, you can see where the script got hung up and froze for about 10 mins until it gave me the option to abort. Diskmgmt did reflect that the target drive was partitioned correctly by size, but no drive letters or labeling were present, and the file type was set as "RAW." I saw somewhere that someone was able to divide the script into 3 parts: cleaning, formatting, labeling the partitions, because for some reason, the script will partition but has a problem labeling and assigning drive letters without a delay in certain parts of the script? Each time the script would stop at "formatting temp part." Each attempt was with Admin permission. I then attempted with hddmaster7, but the same exact things occurred. I attempted this 3 times, each time running the script to clear the drive, then to format but same results. The script hung up during the process and froze my PC. I first attempted to reformat the new drive with xboxonehddmaster9, on my HP Spectre laptop with Win 10 / PowerShell 5.1. My 1TB factory internal was freezing in games, giving me the "problem with your game saves" warning, and started giving me problems power cycling. I attempted to follow the instructional videos, but I have not been successful. ![]()
